惡性腫瘤作為全球較大的公共衛生問題之一，極大地危害人類健康，并將成為新世紀人類健康的第一殺手。而惡性腫瘤的疾病管理和醫療數據存儲也面臨著極大挑戰。首先，病歷作為傳統的醫療數據資料存儲模式，已無法滿足對腫瘤患者的疾病信息管理和對數據進行挖掘利用；其次，隨著計算機技術日新月異，作為其中的一大領域的數據庫技術，得到了前所未有的發展，隨著互聯網優勢的充分體現，Web數據庫技術在腫瘤數據存儲及管理的應用也日益增加。現介紹幾種常用的Web腫瘤數據庫技術，以及基于Web的腫瘤數據庫系統的開發模式和國內外Web腫瘤數據庫的發展現狀。
