特發性顱內壓增高癥好發于育齡期肥胖婦女，以頭痛和視盤水腫為主要表現，腦脊液循環障礙導致顱內壓增高，腦靜脈竇阻塞或狹窄可能在其中發揮重要作用 ；內分泌功能失調可能也起到一定作用。
