        • Brief Introduction of Indirect Comparison Software

ITC (Indirect Treatment Comparison) software and indirect procedure of Stata software are especially used for indirect comparison nowadays, both of which possess the characteristics of friendly concise interface and support for menu operation. ITC software needs the application of other software to yield effect estimation and its confidence interval of direct comparison firstly; while Stata-indirect procedure can complete direct comparison internally and also operate using commands, which simplifies complicated process of indirect comparison. However, both of them only perform "single-pathway" of data transferring and pooling, which is a common deficiency. From the results, their results are of high-degree similarity.

        • APPLICATION OF THREE DIMENSIONAL PRINTING ON MANUFACTURING BIONIC SCAFFOLDS OF SPINAL CORD IN RATS

ObjectiveTo fabricate the bionic scaffolds of rat spinal cord by combining three dimensional (3D) printer and 3D software, so as to lay the foundation of theory and technology for the manufacture of scaffolds by using biomaterials. MethodsThree female Sprague Dawley rats were scanned by 7.0T MRI to obtain the shape and position data of the cross section and gray matter of T8 to T10 spinal cord. Combined with data of position and shape of nerve conduction beam, the relevant data were obtained via Getdata software. Then the 3D graphics were made and converted to stereolithography (STL) format by using SolidWorks software. Photosensitive resin was used as the materials of spinal cord scaffolds. The bionic scaffolds were fabricated by 3D printer. ResultsMRI showed that the section shape of T8 to T10 segments of the spinal cord were approximately oval with a relatively long sagittal diameter of (2.20±0.52) mm and short transverse diameter of (2.05±0.24) mm, and the data of nerve conduction bundle were featured in the STL format. The spinal cord bionic scaffolds of the target segments made by 3D printer were similar to the spinal cord of rat in the morphology and size, and the position of pores simulated normal nerve conduction of rat spinal cord. ConclusionSpinal cord scaffolds produced by 3D printer which have similar shape and size of normal rat spinal cord are more bionic, and the procedure is simple. This technology combined with biomaterials is also promising in spinal cord repairing after spinal cord injury.

        • VALIDATION STUDY ON PRECISION OF DIGITIZED CUSTOM-MADE RADIAL HEAD PROSTHESIS BY THREE-DIMENSIONAL VISUALIZATION OF VIRTUAL SURGERY

Objective To study digitize design of custom-made radial head prosthesis and to verify its matching precision by the surgery of preoperative three-dimensional (3-D) virtual replacement. Methods Six healthy adult volunteers (3 males and 3 females, aged 25-55 years with an average of 33 years) received slice scan of bilateral elbow by Speed Light 16-slice spiral CT. The CT Dicom data were imported into Mimics 10.0 software individually for 3-D reconstruction image, and the left proximal radial 3-D image was extracted, the mirror of the image was generated and it was split into 2 pieces: the head and the neck. The internal diameter and the length of the radial neck were obtained by Mimics 10.0 software measurement tools. In Geomagic Studio 12 software, the radial head was simulated to cover the cartilage surface (1 mm thickness) and generated to an entity. In UG NX 8.0 software, the stem of prosthesis was designed according to the parameters above and assembled head entity. Each custom-made prosthesis was performed and verified its matching precision by the surgery of preoperative 3-D virtual replacement. Results Comparing the morphology of 6 digitize custom-made prostheses with ipsilateral radial heads by the 3-D virtual surgery, the error was less than 1 mm. The radial head prosthesis design on basis of the contralateral anatomy was verified excellent matching. Conclusion The 3-D virtual surgery test and the digitized custom-made radial head prosthesis will be available for clinical accurate replacement.

        • Discrimination of HER2 expression in gastric cancer by texture analysis based on plain CT images: a feasibility study

ObjectiveTo explore the correlation between the texture features of gastric cancer plain CT images and the expression of HER2.MethodsA retrospective collection the datas of 62 patients with gastric cancer who underwent CT scans of the upper abdomen and (or) the whole abdomen from January 2017 to January 2021 in Leshan City People’s Hospital. The treatment method was surgery. The HER2 expression of gastric cancer tissue was detected after the operation. There were 45 male patients and 17 female patients. Lauren classification: 18 cases of intestinal type, 30 cases of diffuse type, and 14 cases of mixed type. Fifty-two cases were HER2 expression negative [age: (63.54±10.32) years], and 10 cases were HER2 expression positive [age: (61.70±11.70) years]. The MaZda module in the MaZda 4.6 version software was used to perform the image normalization, interest area delineation, texture feature extraction, and texture feature selection on the CT plain scan image, and perform texture feature discrimination and misjudgment rate analysis in the B11 module.ResultsThere was no correlation between HER2 expression and age, gender of patients and Lauren classification of tumors (P>0.05). The analysis methods of nonlinear discriminant analysis (NDA)/artificial neural network (ANN), linear discriminant analysis (LDA)/1-nearest-neighbor (1-NN), principal component analysis (PCA)/1-NN, and raw-data analysis (RDA)/1-NN can better correspond to the CT plain scan texture feature parameters of gastric cancer and the expression level of HER2.ConclusionsTexture analysis based on CT plain images has the potential to non-invasively detect the HER2 expression in gastric cancer. The best comprehensive performance texture discrimination method is NDA/ANN and LDA/1-NN.

ObjectiveTo investigate the short-term effectiveness of novel computer navigation system (Knee 3 software; Brainlab, Germany) assisted total knee arthroplasty (TKA).MethodsBetween July 2020 and December 2020, 19 patients underwent unilateral TKA assisted with Knee 3 software. There were 4 males and 15 females. The mean age was 66.3 years (range, 52-79 years). Eighteen patients were diagnosed with osteoarthritis and 1 patient with rheumatoid arthritis. Sixteen patients had varus knees and 3 patients had valgus knees. Preoperative Western Ontario and McMaster University Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) pain, stiffness, function, and total scores were 12.4±3.4, 2 (1, 4), 22 (18, 29), and 37 (29, 43), respectively. Intraoperatively, the medial and lateral gaps in knee extension and in 90° of knee flexion were recorded. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, blood transfusion, and complications were recorded. The hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA), lateral distal femoral angle, and medial proximal tibial angle were measured to evaluate lower limb alignment and prostheses’s alignment using X-ray films at 6 weeks after operation. Patient’s satisfaction rate and WOMAC pain, stiffness, function, and total scores were investigated.ResultsEighteen patients (94.7%) had medial- lateral gap balancing in knee extension, 18 patients (94.7%) had medial-lateral gap balancing in 90° of knee flexion, 19 patients (100%) had medial gap balancing between knee extension and 90° of knee flexion, and 18 patients (94.7%) had lateral gap balancing between knee extension and 90° of knee flexion. The mean operation time was 126 minutes (range, 100-200 minutes). The mean intraoperative blood loss was 205 mL (range, 100-400 mL). Patients were followed up 4-8 months, with an average of 6.2 months. Postoperative complications included 1 deep vein thrombosis of lower extremities and 1 cerebral infarction. X-ray films showed that the mean HKA, lateral distal femoral angle, and medial proximal tibial angle were 179.8° (range, 178°-182°), 83.5° (range, 80°-87°), and 89.5° (range, 87°-93°), respectively. At last follow-up, WOMAC pain, stiffness, function, and total scores were 3.6±1.9, 0 (0, 2), 4 (2, 6), and 9 (5, 10), respectively, which improved when compared with preoperative scores (P<0.05). Twelve patients were very satisfied with the operation results and 7 patients were satisfied with the operation results. The overall satisfaction rate was 100%.ConclusionKnee 3 software can help to obtain good gap balancing and optimal lower limb alignment, with high patient’s satisfaction and good short-term effecectiveness.

        • Application of Stata software to conduct a meta-analysis with the effect value and its 95% confidence interval

Most statistical data in observational studies is expressed as the effect value and its 95% confidence interval (95% CI), which do not correspond to the data format used for traditional meta-analyses, so special data conversion is to be needed when Review Manager software is applied to do a meta-analysis for this type of data, which will make the operation complicated and cumbersome. In addition, Stata software is such a powerful statistical software that can be used directly to conduct a meta-analysis with the effect value and its 95% CI. Therefore, it is an indispensable statistical tool for meta-analysis in observational studies. And this study will give a brief introduction how to use Stata software to conduct a meta-analysis with effect value and its 95% CI based on the published meta-analysis data.
