Objective To explore the correlation between adverse pregnancy outcomes and previous bearing status. Methods The related information of pregnant and postnatal women was extracted from 6825 hospitalized records in two general hospitals and one special hospital, which were selected by the method of cluster sampling, and the related rate and correlation analyses were calculated. Results Women who had abortion history were much easier to cause adverse pregnancy outcomes compared to those who had no abortion history, with the incidence rates of 16.83% and 13.31%, respectively; the incidence rates of adverse pregnancy outcomes of women who ever had zero, one, and two or more than twice of delivery were 14.14%, 16.34% and 22.78%, respectively; the rates of women on their third or more than third, second, first or zero pregnancy were 49.14%, 18.05%, 14.22% and 12.88%, respectively; and the rates of adverse pregnancy outcomes of women with abnormal and normal gestation history were 31.06% and 14.21%, respectively. Conclusion The previous abortion, delivery times and abnormal gestation history are highly related to adverse pregnancy outcomes. Therefore, in order to reduce adverse pregnancy outcomes, it is necessary to make an effective family planning and decrease abortion and pregnancy.
ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation between the expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in the three negative breast cancer (TNBC) and analyze their clinicopathologic significances.
MethodsOne hundred and twelve patients confirmed TNBC from January 2008 to January 2013 in this hospital were collected. The cases of luminal type with the similar pathological type and pathological staging were chosen as control. The expressions of MMP-3 and VEGF were detected by immunohistochemistry.
Results①The positive expression rates of MMP-3 and VEGF in the TNBC tissues were significantly higher than those in the luminal tissues[MMP-3:90.18%(101/112) versus 49.11%(55/112), P < 0.05;VEGF:84.82%(95/112) versus 48.21%(54/112), P < 0.05]. 2 The positive expressions of MMP-3 and VEGF in the TNBC tissues were correlated with age, menopausal status, tumor size, axillary lymph node metastasis, and TNM stage(P < 0.05).③The expression of MMP-3 was positively correlated with VEGF in the TNBC tissues(rs=0.711, P < 0.01).④The results of follow-up showed that the recurrence and metastasis rate within 3 years was 73.21%, the survival rate within 5 years was 36.61% in the patients with TNBC.
ConclusionsThere is a close relation between MMP-3 and VEGF in TNBC, the expressions of MMP-3 and VEGF may serve as important biomarkers for evaluating invasion and metastasis in TNBC. There is a higher metastasis rate within 3 years and a lower survival rate within 5 years in TNBC. According to intervening the expressions of MMP-3 and VEGF, and inhibiting cancer cells matrix degradation and vascular formation, then cancer cells metastasis could be blocked, it may be important to reduce the 3-year recurrence rate and improve 5-year survival rate.
Objective
To explore the correlation between anxiety and social support in patients before radio frequency catheter ablation (RFCA).
Methods
A cross-sectional study was conducted on 120 patients before RFCA from September to November 2014. The participants were asked to complete the Self-rating Anxiety Scale and Social Support Scale. Anxiety score and social support score were compared with the Chinese norm throught-test, and Pearson Correlation was used to identify the correlation between anxiety and social support.
Results
The mean score of RFCA patients’ anxiety was 46.33±9.67, significantly different from the Chinese norm (t=18.700,P<0.05). The total score of social support was 39.80±7.59, significantly higher than the Chinese normal (t=7.287,P<0.05). Anxiety had negative correlation with social support, and the correlation coefficient was –0.377.
Conclusions
Patients’ anxiety before RFCA is higher than normal people, and social support is one of the significant factors of anxiety. Consequently, enhancing social support is a great contribution to relieve anxiety.
ObjectiveTo determine the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and nonarteritic ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION).MethodsIt was a perspective study. A total of 41 consecutive patients with NAION (NAION group) and 41 age- and sex-matched physical examination subjects (control group) in Xi’an No.3 Hospital from December 2016 to December 2018 were enrolled in this study. The apnea hypopnea index (AHI, the number of sleep apneas per hour) was monitored using a polysomnography for patients in NAION group and control group. At the same time, the blood oxygen saturation was continuously recorded. The OSAS can be diagnosed if the AHI value was ≥5. OSAS severity was graded as mild: 5≤AHI<15; moderate: 15≤AHI<30; severe: AHI ≥30. The grading of OSAS severity between two groups was compared by Fisher's exact test. The AHI and minimum blood oxygen saturation were compared between NAION group and control group using the Mann-Whitney U test. Spearman correlation analysis was performed on the correlation between OSAS and NAION.ResultsAmong the patients in the NAION group, 31 patients (75.61%) were diagnosed with OSAS. Among them, 6 patients (14.63%) were mild, 9 patients (21.95%) were moderate, and 16 patients (39.03%) were severe. In the control group, 19 patients (46.34%) were diagnosed with OSAS. Among them, 10 patients (24.39%) were mild, 5 patients (12.20%) were moderate, and 4 patients (9.75%) were severe. The difference of OSAS patients of mild, moderate and severe between two groups were statistically significant (Z=0.235, 0.245, 0.312; P=0.012, 0.014, 0.032). The average AHI of patients in the NAION group was 20.25±7.74, and the mean minimum oxygen saturation at night was (87.38±5.53)%. The average AHI of the control group was 18.67±11.67, and the mean minimum oxygen saturation at night was (85.06+4.25)%. The differences of the mean AHI and mean minimum oxygen saturation between two groups were statistically significant (Z=1.124, 2.317, P=0.003, 0.020). There was a positive correlation between OSAS and NAION (Spearman correlation coefficient=0.229, P=0.030).ConclusionThere is a positive correlation between OSAS and NAION.
Objective
To explore the correlation between metabolic syndrome and renal function in physical examination population.
Methods
The data of individual physical examination in West China Hospital from March to April 2015 was collected. Body mass index (BMI), glomerular filtration rate (GFR) were calculated, and the correlation between metabolic syndrome and renal function was analyzed by using SPSS 16.0 software.
Results
A total of 10?098 individuals were included, of which 1?110 were MS patients were included. The results of analysis showed that, the levels of uric acid, cholesterol, urea and creatinine in MS group were significantly higher than those in non-MS group, and the level of GFR was significantly lower than that in non-MS group (P < 0.05). Renal function in patients with abnormal systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose (FBG), low density lipoprotein, total cholesterol, triglycerides, uric acid index were significantly higher than those in normal renal function group, and high density lipoprotein cholesterol was significantly lower than that of normal renal function group (P < 0.01).
Conclusion
Elevated levels of BMI, blood pressure, glucose, uric acid are correlated with the decrease of GFR, and metabolic syndrome is an important risk factor of renal dysfunction.
Ultrasound guided percutaneous interventional therapy has been widely used in clinic. Aiming at the problem of soft tissue deformation caused by probe contact force in robot-assisted ultrasound-guided therapy, a real-time non-reference ultrasound image evaluation method considering soft tissue deformation is proposed. On the basis of ultrasound image brightness and sharpness, a multi-dimensional ultrasound image evaluation index was designed, which incorporated the aggregation characteristics of the organization. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, ultrasound images of four different models were collected for experiments, including prostate phantom, phantom with cyst, pig liver tissue, and pig liver tissue with cyst. In addition, the correlation between subjective and objective evaluations was analyzed based on Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient. Experimental results showed that the average evaluation time of a single image was 68.8 milliseconds. The evaluation time could satisfy real-time applications. The proposed method realizes the effective evaluation of real-time ultrasound image quality in robot-assisted therapy, and has good consistency with the evaluation of supervisors.
ObjectiveTo investigate the relationship between the red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and the severity of acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis in elderly patients.MethodsThe clinical data of 216 elderly patients with acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis admitted from January 2015 to October of 2018 were analyzed retrospectively. The severity of acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis in the elderly was evaluated by bronchiectasis severity index (BSI) score. Meanwhile, 50 elderly people receiving qualified medical examination were collected as a healthy control group in the same period. The distributions of BSI score, RDW, procalcitonin (PCT), neutrophil percentage (NEU%) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were described in the patients with different risk degree. The severity of acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis in the elderly was evaluated by BSI. The patients were divided into three groups by BSI score: a low risk group, a middle risk group, and a high risk group. The indexes were described including the distribution of stratified BSI score, RDW, PCT, NEU%, CRP at different risk levels. The correlation of each index was analyzed by Spearman correlation. The threshold value of RDW was calculated by general linear regression, and the influencing factors of BSI score were analyzed by multivariate linear regression analysis.ResultsThe higher the risk stratification, the higher the BSI score, RDW, PCT, NEU% and CRP were. RDW was positively correlated with PCT, NEU% and CRP (r values were 0.425, 0.311, 0.177, respectively, P<0.05). BSI score was positively correlated with RDW, PCT, NEU%, and CRP (r values were 0.425, 0.394, 0.650, 0.578, respectively, P<0.05). RDW was positively correlated with PSI score (r=0.425, P<0.05). The thresholds of RDW were 11.45% and 14.03%. Multiple linear regression showed that RDW, PCT, NEU% and CRP were all influential factors of BSI score and explained 52.3% of the total mutation rate.ConclusionRDW is related to the severity of acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis in the elderly, and can predict the severity of acute exacerbation of bronchiectasis in the elderly.
The metacor, which is developed based on the classical frequentist theory, is a specified package for performing meta-analysis of correlation coefficients in R software. This package was officially launched in 2011. Based on the DerSimonian-Laird method and Olkin-Pratt method, correlation coefficients can be directly pooled by using this package. The metacor package also can be used to draw the forest plot and is easy to use; however, it still needs to be improved. This paper briefly introduced how to perform a meta-analysis of correlation coefficients using the metacor package in R software through an example.
ObjectiveTo investigate the correlation of retinal blood vessel density with blood pressure and retinal thickness in the macular region of glaucoma. MethodsA retrospective study. From March 2019 to March 2022, 100 glaucoma patients of 100 eyes (glaucoma group) and 100 healthy people of 100 eyes (control group) diagnosed in Department of Ophthalmology of Luoyang First People's Hospital were included in the study. The patients in the glaucoma group were subdivided into the early, intermediate, and late groups based on the average visual field defect value, which were 38, 32, and 30 cases, respectively. Optical coherence tomography angiography was used to scan the macular area of the examined eyes in a 3 mm×3 mm area. The software automatically divided the retina within 3 mm of the macular central concavity into 2 concentric circles centered on the macular central concavity, which were the central concave area with a diameter of 1 mm and the paracentral concave area with a diameter of 1-3 mm. The blood flow density and retinal thickness of the superficial retinal capillary plexus in the nasal, temporal, inferior, and superior quadrants of the retina within 3 mm of the macula were measured. Blood pressure was measured at the brachial artery using an electronic sphygmomanometer. Comparisons between two groups were made by independent samples t test, and comparisons between multiple groups were made by one-way analysis of variance. Correlations between retinal blood flow density and blood pressure and retinal thickness were analyzed by Spearman's correlation analysis. ResultsThe retinal blood vessel density in the central fovea, parafoveal, inferior, and superior macular areas in the glaucoma group were lower than that in the control group, and with the aggravation of the disease, the retinal blood vessel density in the central fovea, parafoveal, inferior and superior macular areas gradually decreased; the retinal thicknesses in the foveal, parafoveal, inferior, and superior macular areas in the glaucoma group were lower than those in the control group, and with the aggravation of the disease, the retinal thicknesses in the foveal, parafoveal, inferior, and superior macular areas gradually decreased, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Systolic and diastolic blood pressure were higher in the glaucoma group than in the control group, and they increased gradually as the disease worsened (P<0.05). Spearman's correlation analyses showed that in glaucoma patients, the density of retinal blood vessels in the macular central plexus, paracentral plexus, and inferior and superior retinas was positively correlated with retinal thickness in the corresponding areas and negatively correlated with blood pressure (P<0.05). ConclusionThe density of retinal blood vessels in the macular central plexus, paracentral plexus, and inferior and superior retinas are positively correlated with retinal thickness in the corresponding areas and negatively correlated with blood pressure.
ObjectiveTo systematically review the correlation between adenoviral infection and encephalitis in children.
MethodsStudies on the correlation between adenoviral infection and encephalitis among children were retrieved in the databases of CHKD, CNKI, WanFang Data, CMCC, PubMed, Ovid, EBSCO, and Science New during 1978-2013. According to our inclusion and exclusion criteria, literature was screened. After data extraction, meta-analysis was conducted using Comprehensive Meta Analysis 2.0.
ResultsA total of 18 studies were enrolled. The results of meta-analysis indicated that:the prevalence of infection of human adenovirus in children with encephalitis was p1=10.8% (95%CI 6.5% to 15.2%, P < 0.000 01). The incidence of encephalitis in children with adenoviral infection was p2=31.4% (95%CI 14.1% to 48.6%, P < 0.000 01). The results of two studies showed that, the correlation coefficients between adenoviral infection and encephalitis were OR1=2.22 (95%CI 0.32 to 14.79, P > 0.05), and OR2=1.12 (95%CI 0.14 to 9.10, P > 0.05), respectively, both with no significant difference. In addition, the subgenus B adenoviruses, including type 3 and type 7 were more associated with encephalitis, followed by type 1 and type 2 in subgenus C and type 8 in subgenus D.
ConclusionCurrent evidence shows that no correlation exists between adenoviral infection and encephalitis in children. However, the above conclusion needs to be verified by conducting more rationally-designed studies so as to clarify the correlation.
