Objective
To estimate the quality and efficacy of the academic thesis of compound anisodine in traumatic optic neuropathies(TON) treatment.
Method
We searched Chinese database last updated in April 2007 for published magazine papers using ldquo;anisodinerdquo; amp; ldquo;optic-neuropathyrdquo; amp; ldquo;traumardquo; or ldquo;blunt trauma rdquo; as key words, and analyzed them using the standard of evidence-based medicine (EBM).
Result
6 RCTs with a total of 415 eyes included are retrieved , and the OR value is 6.54 with a 95%CI of[4.14,10.35],P<0.00001, the difference is sig nificant; subcategory analyses are made and both show significant difference( P<0.0001).
Conclusion
The existing evidence supports that prognosis of TON is better when compound anisodine are adopt in treatment, and this effect is significant in steroid treatment. Compound anisodine can be used alone for TON treatment. However, because there are only 6 thesis are retrieved and all of them have methodolo gical short-comings,the evidence is not convincing. There is an urgent need of well-planed, large-scale and multiple-center studies to assess the role of compound anisodine in traumatic optic neuropathies treatment.

MTT assay was presented in this paper and used in 3 cases of retinoblastoma afert enucleation to evaluate the clinical effect of different chemotherapeutic agents. The results showed that the sensitivity of anticancer agents were various in different cases of retinoblastoma. The combining treatment of tow anticacer agents together was seemingly preferable to a single use. When a single drug was chosen,it was advisable to use carboplatin, cisplatin, mitomycin C or etopside. If a combination of 2 anticancer drugs were applied, vincristin with carboplatin or cisplatin will give a better effect than others, but vincristin is not sensitive when applied alone.

Clinical efficacy evaluation is important for the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In view of the existing accumulation and current situation of the TCM clinical efficacy evaluation, based on the international perspective, and taking the rational and objective evaluation of TCM clinical efficacy and safety as the foundation, in order to enhance TCM evidence level to support clinical decision-making and promote TCM industry and TCM internationalization development, the State Administration of TCM entrusted China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences to establish China Center for Evidence Based Traditional Chinese Medicine (CCEBTCM). CCEBTCM is expected to optimize the allocation of evidence-based research resources in TCM field to further integrate advantages of evidence-based TCM research teams, promote consensus on evidence-based TCM standards, share evidence-based TCM data or information and lead cultural exchanges between Chinese and overseas. In this way, the status and influence of TCM in the world will be enhanced so that it can better serve global health.
Objective To assess the quality of reporting of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) related to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) published in the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine by CONSORT statement and Jadad scale. Methods We handsearched the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine to identify TCM RCTs. The revised CONSORT statement and Jadad scale combined with self-established criteria were applied. Results A total of 57 RCTs were identified of which there were 17 TCM RCTs. Some items in CONSORT checklist were completely reported in all TCM RCTs, such as abstract, inclusion and exclusion criteria, intervention, randomization sequence generation, description of statistic method, description of baseline data, outcomes and estimation, and explain results. Compared with the previous findings, there were more trials in this study to report allocation concealment, randomization implementation, use of flow chart and appliance. Only 3 RCTs (17.6%) reported acknowledgements. One RCT did not describe syndrome type of TCM, and 4 RCTs (23.5%) carried out dummy. The mean Jadad score was 4.35±1.11 in all trials, of which 11 RCTs (64.7) ranked 5 points. Conclusion The comprehensive quality of reporting of TCM RCTs published in the Chinese Journal of Evidence-Based Medicine from 2001 to 2008 has been improved. After the publication of CONSORT statement and CONSORT for traditional Chinese medicine, the quality of reporting of TCM RCTs is improved. We are looking forward to improving the CONSORT for TCM.
Objective To summarize the status of tumor stem cells investigations in gastrointestinal carcinoma. Methods Domestic and international publications online involving tumor stem cells of gastrointestinal carcinoma in recent years were collected and reviewed. Results There are a small quantity of cancer cells shown some stem cell characteristics. They are named tumor stem cell and play an important role in tumorigenesis, proliferation, metastasis and recurrence. And also, tumor stem cells can resist the effect of antineoplastic drugs and lead to tumor recurrence. These tumor-initiating cells are CD133-positive in the gastrointestinal carcinomas, especially in colorectal cancers. CD133-positive colorectal cancer cells have the abilities of clone, proliferation, differentiation and form metastases. And a high CD133 mRNA content was found in the blood of patients who suffered from bone metastases. Conclusion The characteristics of CD133-positive cancer cell and the mechanisms of stem cell-niche system are the basis of developing better methods to tumor diagnosis and treatment, and provide theoretical basis of new methods, such as targeted therapy.
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) standardization is an important carrier for TCM inheriting and innovating. As an important content of TCM standardization system, TCM clinical practice guidelines' designation and revision play an important role for medical staff to regulate medical behavior, and improve the quality of health services. This paper expounds the significance and function of the TCM guidelines, analyzes the present situation, opportunities and challenges, and puts forward the strategies and suggestions to promote the development of evidence-based TCM guidelines.
ObjectiveTo systematically review the influence of health education on medicine-taking compliance of hypertensive patients, so as to provide scientific evidence for health decision-making.
MethodsLiterature search was performed in CBM, CNKI, WanFang Data and VIP databases to collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published between 1998 and 2013 concerning the effect of health education on medicine-taking compliance of hypertensive patients. Two reviewers independently screened the literature according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, extracted the data, assessed the methodological quality of included studies, and then conducted Bayesian meta-analysis using WinBUGS 14 software after heterogeneity-test by using Stata 10.0 software.
ResultsA total of 19 RCTs involving 3 751 participants were included. The results of Bayesian meta-analysis showed that the health education group was superior to the control group in medicine-taking compliance with a significant difference (OR=4.46, 95%CI 3.698 to 5.358).
ConclusionHealth education could enhance the medicine-taking compliance of Chinese hypertension patients significantly.
Integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine has been used to treat acute pancreatitis (AP) for more than 50 years. It has become a dominant and specialized disease treated by integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine. After many years of clinical practice, a relatively mature and complete treatment system has been formed. Therefore, it was proposed by the Chinese Society of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, the Chinese Medical Association, and the Chinese Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine to update and formulate the “Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Pancreatitis with Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine” (2021) group standards in 2022, and “Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Practice Guidelines for Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Pancreatitis” finally published. The guideline condenses 25 kinds of important clinical issues, which guide to explain the diagnosis and treatment of AP in detail, focusing on the integration of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine in the management of AP, such as staging and syndrome differentiation, early fluid therapy, pain management, and organ function support in early stage. The advantages and the timing of early intervention of traditional Chinese medicine in AP are emphasized. This guideline also proposes suggestions on nutritional support, management of causes, treatment of late local complications and infections, as well as prevention of recurrence and follow-up strategies for long-term complications. This paper provides an interpretation of this guideline.
